Former journalist/big-tech cog Vera Chan (AKA HC Chan) stretches the definition of noir: corporate (Murderers’ Feast, Midnight Hour), Chinese music-school (Tone Deaf, Tales of Music, Murder & Mayhem), domestic ("These Poor Mothers", LA Review 2023 Short Fiction Award), and stand-up (PUNCHLINE, EQMM, date TBD). In her spare time, she volunteer-teaches martial arts at UCB with husband Raymond and wins contests for unpublished manuscripts.
