Hilary Faktor is a writer shaped by the boreal forest and the rhythms of a northern mining town. Her debut novel, Pretty Bird, a contemporary, coming-of-age thriller that transports readers from modern-day Toronto to an isolated Saskatchewan farm, will be published in October 2026. Her essays have appeared in The Globe and Mail, Maclean’s and Canada’s History magazine, among others.
