Malcolm Kempt is a Canadian novelist who worked as a criminal lawyer in the Arctic for 17 years. His debut thriller, A Gift Before Dying (Crown, 2026) was positively reviewed in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Reviews. Booklist called it 'the only mystery you need to read in 2026'. He has written exclusive pieces for People Magazine, the Guardian and the CBC. He lives on the island of Newfoundland.
